Jezera
In the distant past, arriving in the small lake bay, which of all the
winds kept hidden by the surrounding hills, our ancestors saw the two
small lakes, so they settled there, built wells, including the well
called Donje vode (Dobre vode).
The oldest part of town was built on the north side: a handful of narrow
streets, stone houses and the palace. The village was seen towards the
lake Lokva and the lake Blato, which is poured among the fields below
the hill Kromašnice. These two lakes during the hot summer months dry up
and turn into a large green area with endemic vegetation.
Cheap land they cultivated freeing it from the Dalmatian rocks, building
stone walls and piles of stone, was not enough for the inhabitants of
Jezera. Since the ancient times, they have turned to the sea, and
through the centuries fishermen, divers and sailors built a port in its
bay. Although one of the smaller towns on the island of Murter, they own
the largest number of ships, and on the lake promenade in the evening
are walking the captains, officers, pilots, boatswain, ship's cooks,
waiters ... |
